Ճապոնացի գիտնականները հացթուխի խմորիչի տեսակ են մշակել, որն ընդունակ է հարյուրավոր անգամներ ավելի լավ գոյատևել ագրեսիվ միջավայրում և արդյունավետորեն արտադրել արժեքավոր օրգանական միացություն դեղագործության և կոսմետիկայի համար։ Սա կարող է մոտեցնել այնպիսի էկոլոգիապես մաքուր կենսատեխնոլոգիաների ստեղծումը, որոնք ընդունակ են փոխարինել նավթաքիմիական արտադրությանը։ Աշխատանքը հրապարակվել է Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology (AMB) ամսագրում։

Հետազոտությունն իրականացրել է Օսակայի մունիցիպալ համալսարանի դոցենտ Ռյոսուկե Յամադայի գլխավորած խումբը։ Ուշադրության կենտրոնում հայտնվել է 2,3-բուտանդիոլը՝ մի նյութ, որը լայնորեն կիրառվում է դեղերի, կոսմետիկայի և քիմիական նյութերի արտադրության մեջ։ Այն կարելի է ստանալ միկրոօրգանիզմների օգնությամբ, սակայն հիմնական «կենսաֆաբրիկային»՝ Saccharomyces cerevisiae խմորիչներին, խանգարում է սեփական արտադրանքը. բարձր կոնցենտրացիաների դեպքում 2,3-բուտանդիոլը թունավոր է դառնում հենց իրենց համար։

Դրա պատճառով խմորիչը դադարում է աճել և կտրուկ նվազեցնում է նյութի արտադրությունը, ինչը տեխնոլոգիայի արդյունաբերական օգտագործումը տնտեսապես անշահավետ է դարձնում։

Խնդիրը լուծելու համար հետազոտողները կիրառել են ուղղորդված մուտագենեզի մեթոդը՝ փոփոխություններ են մտցրել խմորիչների գենոմում և ընտրել առավել դիմացկուն տարբերակները։ Փորձերի ընթացքում ստացվել են չորս մոդիֆիկացված շտամներ, որոնք ենթարկվել են միաժամանակ մի քանի սթրեսների ազդեցությանը՝ էթանոլի, բարձր ջերմաստիճանի, թթվային միջավայրի և 2,3-բուտանդիոլի բարձր կոնցենտրացիաների։

Արդյունքում առանձնացվել է YPH499/Co58 շտամը, որը ապշեցուցիչ արդյունք է ցուցաբերել. 2,3-բուտանդիոլի բարձր կոնցենտրացիայի պայմաններում այն 122 անգամ ավելի ակտիվ է զարգացել, քան ելակետային խմորիչները։

Գենետիկական վերլուծությունը ցույց է տվել, որ դիմացկունությունը կապված է բջջային մեխանիզմների մի ամբողջ հավաքածուի ակտիվացման հետ։ Բջիջները սկսել են ավելի արդյունավետ կերպով հաղթահարել թունավոր ծանրաբեռնվածությունը և պահպանել էներգետիկ հավասարակշռությունը։

Գիտնականների խոսքով՝ նման ռազմավարությունը ճանապարհ է հարթում դեպի կայուն կենսատեխնոլոգիաների զարգացում, որոնք կարող են նվազեցնել հանածո վառելիքից կախվածությունը և քիմիական միացությունների արտադրությունը դարձնել ավելի էկոլոգիական։ Հեռանկարում մոդիֆիկացված միկրոօրգանիզմները կկարողանան օգտագործվել վառելիքի, դեղերի և արդյունաբերական բաղադրիչների «կանաչ» սինթեզի համար։
