Հայաստանի արտաքին քաղաքականության հնարավոր կտրուկ վերադասավորումները շարունակում են մնալ հանրային և փորձագիտական քննարկումների կենտրոնում։ Հատկապես հաճախ է հնչում հարցը՝ ի՞նչ կարող է պատահել, եթե Երևանի և Մոսկվայի հարաբերությունները խզվեն։ Մասնագետները զգուշացնում են, որ նման սցենարը կարող է լուրջ հետևանքներ ունենալ՝ առաջին հերթին անվտանգության և տնտեսության ոլորտներում։

Անվտանգային տեսանկյունից քննարկվում է այն հավանականությունը, որ ՀԱՊԿ-ից դուրս գալու պարագայում Հայաստանը կարող է զրկվել 102-րդ ռազմաբազայից։ Վերլուծաբանների մի հատվածի գնահատմամբ՝ նման զարգացումը կարող է էապես փոխել տարածաշրջանային ուժերի հավասարակշռությունը և բարձրացնել անվտանգության ռիսկերը՝ հաշվի առնելով առկա լարվածությունը Թուրքիայի և Ադրբեջանի հետ հարաբերություններում։

Տնտեսական դաշտում ևս հնարավոր հետևանքները ներկայացվում են որպես զգալի։ Ռուսաստանը Հայաստանի կարևորագույն առևտրային գործընկերներից մեկն է, և հարաբերությունների խզման պարագայում կարող են խաթարվել առևտրային կապերը, առաջանալ շուկաների կորստի խնդիր, ինչպես նաև անհրաժեշտ դառնալ նոր շուկաների որոնում, ինչը, ըստ մասնագետների, ժամանակատար գործընթաց է։ Նշվում է նաև, որ կարող են բարդանալ աշխատանքային միգրացիայի պայմանները՝ Ռուսաստանի Դաշնություն մեկնելու համար պահանջելով լրացուցիչ իրավական ընթացակարգեր, այդ թվում՝ վիզա և աշխատանքի թույլտվություն։
Քաղաքագետ Արմեն Հովասափյանը գրել է․

«Փաշինյանի՝ Ռուսաստան այցից հետո հռետորաբանությունը ավելի սրվեց։ Սա կարելի է տարբեր ձևով բացատրել, բայց ամենապարզ տարբերակը սա է՝ իշխանությունը զգում է, որ արտաքին դաշտում ինչ-որ բան փոխվում է, և դա կարող է անդրադառնալ ներսի վրա։ Այդ պահին ինչ է անում ցանկացած իշխանություն՝ փորձում է ներսում «սեղմել» դաշտը։ Իսկ ամենաարագ գործիքը խոսքն է՝ կոշտ, ճնշող, երբեմն վիրավորական։ Դա ուղերձ է՝ թե՛ ընդդիմությանը, թե՛ հասարակությանը, որ «մենք պատրաստ ենք գնալ մինչև վերջ»։ Ասեմ, որ «վա բանկ» գնալու պարագայում, արդեն նահանջի տեղ չի թողնում իր համար։ Ամեն ինչ դրվում է մեկ սցենարի վրա, եթե այն աշխատում է՝ պահում ես իշխանությունը, եթե ոչ՝ խնդիրները բազմապատկվում են։ Այսինքն՝ այս ամբողջ կոշտ խոսքը, գռեհիկ բառապաշարը, հարձակվողական տոնը իրականում ավելի շատ խոսում են ոչ թե ուժի, այլ ներքին լարվածության մասին»։

Ընդհանուր առմամբ, փորձագետները նշում են, որ Հայաստանի և Ռուսաստանի միջև ձևավորված բազմաշերտ կապերը՝ թե՛ անվտանգության, թե՛ տնտեսական և մարդկային մակարդակներում, տարիների ընթացքում դարձել են փոխկախվածության համակարգ։ Հետևաբար, հարաբերությունների կտրուկ խզման սցենարը կարող է ունենալ լայնածավալ և երկարաժամկետ հետևանքներ, որոնք կազդեն երկրի ներքին կայունության և յուրաքանչյուր քաղաքացու սոցիալական վիճակի վրա։
