Գարեգին Բ Կաթողիկոսը երեկ այցելել է տնային կալանքի տակ գտնվող գործարար, «Ուժեղ Հայաստան» կուսակցության վարչապետի թեկնածու Սամվել Կարապետյանին։ «Նորին Սրբությունը մեծանուն հայորդուն բերեց Սուրբ Էջմիածնի օրհնությունը և բարեմաղթեց տոկունությամբ ու հավատով դիմագրավելու առկա դժվարություններն ու փորձությունները։ Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը վստահություն հայտնեց, որ, հակառակ այս նեղությունների, տիար Սամվել Կարապետյանը հուսառատությամբ, հայրենասեր ու եկեղեցասեր իրեն բնորոշ ոգով պիտի շարունակի ազգօգուտ իր ծանրակշիռ ներդրումը բերել հանուն հայրենիքի և աշխարհասփյուռ հայոց կյանքի պայծառության»,- նշվում է Մայր Աթոռի տեղեկատվական համակարգի հաղորդագրությունում։

Թեև Մայր Աթոռի հայտարարության մեջ քաղաքական որևէ դրվագ չկա, գործող իշխանությունն Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի այս այցը անվանում է բացահայտ աջակցություն «Ուժեղ Հայաստան» կուսակցությանը և Սամվել Կարապետյանին, ինչը օբյեկտիվորեն ճիշտ է։ Միևնույն ժամանակ ակնհայտ է, որ Փաշինյանը ոչ հիմա, ոչ էլ երբևէ ձեռք չի քաշելու Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցու դեմ իր արշավն իրականացնելուց։ Ժամանակավոր դադարն էլ ընդամենը պայմանավորված է Միջազգային հանրապետական ինստիտուտի վերջին հարցումներով, ըստ որոնց՝ որքան էլ գործող իշխանությունը ջանացել է, եկեղեցու վարկանիշը շարունակում է բարձր մնալ հանրության շրջանում։ Այդ իմաստով առայժմ եկեղեցու դեմ արշավը դադարեցրել են, բայց Փաշինյանն անընդհատ առիթի դեպքում շեշտում է, որ խորհրդարանական ընտրությունները լինելու են վստահության քվե իրեն՝ նաև եկեղեցու դեմ գործողություններ իրականացնելու նպատակով։ Ուստի և Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցին էլ պետք է կողմնորոշվեր, ցույց տար իր քաղաքական նախընտրությունները։

Այդ առումով Սամվել Կարապետյանը լավագույն թեկնածուն է Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու համար։ Վերջինս երկար տարիներ Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու բավականին լուրջ աջակիցներից ու հովանավորներից մեկն է։ Բնականաբար, կաթողիկոսի այցն առաջիկայում բուռն քննադատությունների ալիք է առաջացնելու իշխող «Քաղաքացիական պայմանագիր» կուսակցության ներսում, բայց և ակնհայտ է, որ եկեղեցին էլ, ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոսն էլ հետդարձի հնարավորություն չեն տեսնում։
