Միացյալ Նահանգների պետքարտուղար Մարկո Ռուբիոյի այցից հետո ակնհայտ էր, որ պաշտոնական Վաշինգտոնը լրջորեն աջակցում է Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին, բայց ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հայտարարությունը՝ բացահայտ աջակցությամբ, նույնիսկ զարմացրել է ամերիկյան քաղաքականության գիտակներին։

Թրամփը ծավալուն գրառում է արել՝ Փաշինյանին իր հրաշալի բարեկամ և առաջնորդ անվանելով, նշելով, որ Նիկոլը լիովին կիսում է իր տեսլականը խաղաղության և բարգավաճության մասին՝ Հայաստանի և ամբողջ Հարավային Կովկասի տարածաշրջանի համար։ Թրամփը բացեիբաց հայտարարել է, թե Նիկոլն ունի իր լիակատար աջակցությունը հունիսի 7-ին վերընտրվելու համար, ընդ որում, նա չի թաքցնում, թե որն է Փաշինյանին աջակցելու իր իրական պատճառը։

«Նիկոլի օգնությամբ մենք՝ Միացյալ Նահանգները, Հայաստանը, Հարավային Կովկասը և Կենտրոնական Ասիան, կհասցնենք ավելի մեծ բարձունքների, քան երբևէ»,- ասել է Թրամփը՝ նշելով, որ ԱՄՆ-ը և Հայաստանը միասին հիմք կդնեն TRIPP-ի համար, որը կվերափոխի Հարավային Կովկասը և կօգնի ամերիկյան էներգետիկ ընկերություններին մուտք ունենալ Կենտրոնական Ասիայից մինչև ԱՄՆ։

Ի սկզբանե ակնհայտ էր, որ Հայաստանը Թրամփին հետաքրքրում է հենց Կենտրոնական Ասիայից ապրանքների տարանցման համար, այլ ոչ թե ժողովրդավարության կամ այլ արժեքների։ Ամերիկագետ Սուրեն Սարգսյանի գնահատմամբ՝ մինչ Թրամփի գալը ամերիկյան քաղաքականության մեջ սովորաբար ընդունված երևույթ չի եղել ընտրությունների ժամանակ բացեիբաց որևէ երկրի աջակցելը կամ միջամտելը։ Թրամփը աջակցում է Փաշինյանին այնպես, ինչպես կաջակցեր ԱՄՆ որևէ սենատորի կամ նահանգապետի։ Սա ցույց է տալիս Միացյալ Նահանգների իրական վերաբերմունքը Հայաստանի նկատմամբ։

Ավելին, եթե Եվրամիությունը Փաշինյանին գործընկեր դիտարկում է որպես Ռուսաստանի դեմ գործիք օգտագործելու համար, Միացյալ Նահանգներն էլ պարզապես Հայաստանը տարանցիկ ուղի են գնահատում՝ Փաշինյանին քարտ-բլանշ տալով խորհրդարանական ընտրություններում հնարավոր բոլոր խախտումներն իրականացնելու համար։
