ԱԳ նախարարի տեղակալ Շավարշ Քոչարյանը Հանրային հեռուստաընկերության «Առաջին լրատվական» ծրագրի խնդրանքով մեկնաբանել է Ադրբեջանի արտգործնախարարության բողոքը` Կարեն Պետրոսյանի սպանությունը քննադատող միջազգային արձագանքների կապակցությամբ։ Ինչպես հայտնում են ՀՀ արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունից՝ Շավարշ Քոչարյանը, մասնավորապես, նշել է.
« Նման անհիմն և անպատասխանատու հայտարարություններով Բաքուն հերթական անհաջող փորձն է ձեռնարկում` քողարկելու մարդկանց կյանքի նկատմամբ իր արհամարհական ու քարանձավային վերաբերմունքը։ Ցավոք՝ Կարեն Պետրոսյանի սպանությունը եզակի դեպք չէ։ Անհնար է մոռացության մատնել նույն կերպ գերության մեջ սպանված Մանվել Սարիբեկյանի, Հայրենիք վերադառնալուց հետո Ադրբեջանում կտտանքների ենթարկվելու արդյունքում մահացած Մամիկոն Խոջոյանի պատմությունները։
Կարեն Պետրոսյանի սպանության ակնհայտ փաստերը հերքելու անհաջող փորձերը իրականացվում են նույն ավանդական դարձած ոճով, որով Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունները հերքում են միջազգային հանրության արձագանքները` Ադրբեջանում ակտիվիստների հալածանքների վերաբերյալ։ Տարբերությունն այն է, որ այլակարծիք քաղաքացիներին մեղադրում են հայերի լրտես լինելու մեջ, իսկ քննադատող միջազգային կառույցներին և երկրներին մեղադրում են հայերի ազդեցության տակ լինելու մեջ։ Այդպիսի մեղադրանքները կրկին անգամ վկայում են Ադրբեջանի ներկայիս իշխանությունների հայատյաց էության մասին։
Կարեն Պետրոսյանի սպանությունը շատ նմանություններ ունի մի քանի օր առաջ ծայրահեղականների կողմից ամերիկացի լրագրող Ջեյմս Ֆոուլիի դաժան սպանության հետ, որին հրապարակայնորեն նվաստացրին, ապա սպանեցին: Միակ տարբերությունն այն է, որ Հայաստանի քաղաքացու սպանությունը հրապարակային չէր, այլ հենց այնպես, ինչպես գիշերվա քողի տակ գաղտնագողի կացնահարվեց Գուրգեն Մարգարյանը, իսկ ոճրագործը հերոսացվեց Ադրբեջանում։
Իրերն իրենց անունով կոչողներին մեղադրելու փոխարեն` Բաքվի իշխանությունները պետք է հասկանան, որ նման բարբարոսական մեթոդներով գործելը իրենց երկիրը տանում է դեպի միջնադարյան անդունդ»։
