Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը, ի պատասխան Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Էրդողանի նամակի, որտեղ Թուրքիայի նախագահը Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահին հրավիրել է ս.թ. ապրիլի 24-ին ներկա լինելու Թուրքիայում Գալիպոլիի ճակատամարտի հարյուրամյակի հիշատակի միջոցառումներին, պատասխան նամակ է հղել, որում, մասնավորապես, ասված է. «Հարգելի պարոն Նախագահ,
Ստացա Գալիպոլիի ճակատամարտի հարյուրամյակի հիշատակի միջոցառումներին մասնակցելու՝ ինձ ուղղված Ձեր հրավերը:
Հիրավի, Առաջին աշխարհամարտը մարդկության պատմության ամենազարհուրելի էջերից է, որ միլիոնավոր անմեղ մարդկային կորուստների և ճակատագրերի խեղման պատճառ դարձավ:
Գալիպոլիի ճակատամարտի մասնակից էր նաև Օսմանյան կայսրության զորքերի հայազգի հրետանավոր, կապիտան Սարգիս Թորոսյանը. սպա, որ նվիրվել էր կայսրության պաշտպանության ու անվտանգության ապահովմանը և հավատարիմ ծառայության ու սխրանքների համար Օսմանյան կայսրության կողմից արժանացել էր ռազմական պարգևների: Մինչդեռ, նույն թվականին իր գագաթնակետին հասած՝ Օսմանյան կայսրության կողմից հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ նախապես ծրագրված և իրականացված զանգվածային ջարդերի ու բռնի տեղահանման ալիքը չշրջանցեց անգամ Սարգիս Թորոսյանին: Ցեղասպանությանը զոհ գնացած մեկուկես միլիոն հայերի թվում էին նրա ծնողները, ովքեր դաժանաբար սպանվեցին, իսկ քույրը մահացավ Սիրիայի անապատում:
Հենց նախադեպը չունեցող այդ կոտորածի արդյունքում էր, որ Ռաֆայել Լեմկինը ստեղծեց «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը, և դրա անպատժելիությունն էր, որ հող նախապատրաստեց Հոլոքոստի և Ռուանդայում, Կամբոջայում ու Դարֆուրում ցեղասպանությունների համար:
Ըստ Ձեզ՝ Գալիպոլիի մարտերը ոչ միայն Թուրքիայի, այլև ողջ աշխարհի համար պատերազմից ծնունդ առած բարեկամական հարաբերությունների առանձնահատուկ օրինակ են, իսկ ճակատամարտի դաշտը՝ պատերազմի դառը ժառանգության մասին հիշեցնող խաղաղության և բարեկամության հուշարձան: Մի կողմ թողնելով բոլորին քաջ հայտնի Գալիպոլիի ճակատամարտի նշանակությունը կամ Թուրքիայի վիճահարույց դերակատարությունը Առաջին և Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմների ընթացքում՝ անհրաժեշտ է հիշել, որ խաղաղությունը և բարեկամությունն առաջին հերթին պետք է հիմնված լինեն սեփական անցյալի հետ առերեսման խիզախության, պատմական արդարության, ինչպես նաև համամարդկային հիշողության՝ ոչ թե ընտրովի, այլ ամբողջական ճանաչման վրա:
Ավա՜ղ, Թուրքիան շարունակում է ժխտողականության իր ավանդական քաղաքականությունը և տարեցտարի «կատարելագործելով» պատմության աղճատման իր գործիքակազմը՝ Գալիպոլիի մարտերի հարյուրամյակն այս տարի առաջին անգամ նշում է ապրիլի 24-ին, այն դեպքում, երբ դրանք սկսվել են 1915 թվականի մարտի 18-ին և շարունակվել մինչև 1916 թվականի հունվարի վերջը, իսկ դաշնակիցների ափհանման օպերացիան՝ Գալիպոլիի ցամաքային մարտերը սկսվել են ապրիլի 25-ին: Ի՞նչ նպատակ է սա հետապնդում, եթե ոչ համաշխարհային հանրության ուշադրությունը Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-ամյա տարելիցի միջոցառումներից շեղելու պարզունակ նպատակ: Մինչդեռ, մինչև հիշատակի միջոցառում նախաձեռնելը, Թուրքիան շատ ավելի կարևոր պարտականություն ուներ սեփական ժողովրդի և ողջ մարդկության հանդեպ, այն է՝ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումն ու դատապարտումը:
Ուստի, խորհուրդ կտայի համաշխարհային խաղաղությանն ուղղված Ձեր կոչերում չմոռանալ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման ուղերձ հղել աշխարհին՝ ոգեկոչելով մեկուկես միլիոն անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը: Յուրաքանչյուրիս պարտքն է գալիք սերունդներին փոխանցել խեղաթյուրումից զերծ իրական պատմությունը՝ այդ կերպ կանխելով ոճրագործությունների կրկնությունն ու հող նախապատրաստելով ազգերի, հատկապես հարևան ազգերի միջև մերձեցման և հետագա համագործակցության համար:
