Об этом заявил генеральный секретарь всемирной организации Пан Ги Мун. В распространенном сообщении он выразил тревогу в связи с интенсивными боевыми действиями в районе донецкого аэропорта.
"Генеральный секретарь подчеркивает, что необходимо любой ценой избежать дальнейшего ухудшения ситуации, которая уже привела к гибели множества людей и страданиям гражданского населения. ООН готова поддержать любые усилия, нацеленные на деэскалацию и возобновление подлинного мирного процесса, который приведет к восстановлению стабильности и территориальной целостности Украины", - говорится в заявлении.
Пан Ги Мун призвал все стороны выполнить взятые на себя обязательства в рамках минского протокола и меморандума. По его словам, первым шагом должно быть "немедленное и полное прекращение боевых действий".
Ранее в Совете национальной безопасности и обороны (СНБО) Украины подтвердили начало масштабной военной операции в аэропорту Донецка. "Украинское командование приняло решение о массированной операции по возвращению и передаче нашим бойцам территории, которая сейчас находится в донецком аэропорту", - сказал спикер информационного центра СНБО Андрей Лысенко.
