Министр юстиции Армении Ованнес Манукян 19 января принял родственников отбывающего наказание в России Грачья Арутюняна — его супругу Анаит Мартиросян и ее отца Виктора Мартиросяна. Об этом сообщили в Министерстве юстиции Армении. Согласно источнику, целью встречи было, в частности, сообщение подробностей о процедуре перевода Грачья Арутюняна в Армению.
Министр сообщил родственникам Арутюняна, что заявление Анаит Мартиросян в адрес минюста Армении, с просьбой о переводе Арутюняна в Армению для отбытия оставшегося срока заключения, находится в стадии рассмотрения. Глава минюста Армении разъяснил подробности процедуры перевода, отметив, что, так как при заявлении его ведомству не были представлены необходимые документы, министерство юстиции в установленном порядке обратилось в минюст России с просьбой о предоставлении полной информации, необходимой для решения вопроса о переводе Арутюняна в Армению, а также документов, предусмотренных европейской конвенцией «О передаче осужденных».
Министр юстиции Армении, выслушав вопросы родственников, также проинформировал их, что вскоре проведет телефонный разговор со своим российским коллегой по данному делу. Глава минюста Армении заверил родственников Арутюняна, что делается все возможное для решения вопроса о переводе гражданина Армении.
В августе 2014 года Троицкий суд Москвы признал Арутюняна виновным в использовании подложного документа и нарушении правил дорожного движения, повлекшем по неосторожности смерть двух или более лиц, и приговорил к шести годам и девяти месяцам заключения в колонии общего режима. Груженный щебнем грузовик Арутюняна 13 июля 2013 года врезался в Подмосковье в автобус с 64 пассажирами. В результате аварии погибли 18 человек.
