Первый замминистра обороны Армении Давид Тоноян на встрече с главой представительства МККК в Армении Сарой Эпрехт обсудили возможные пути реализации договоренностей об обмене данными о без вести пропавших в результате карабахского конфликта.
Министерство обороны Армении в рамках своих полномочий готово под эгидой Красного Креста сотрудничать с азербайджанской стороной в вопросе обмена данными о без вести пропавших, заявил в среду первый замминистра обороны Армении Давид Тоноян на встрече с главой представительства Международного комитета Красного Креста в Армении Сарой Эпрехт.
"Это (сотрудничество по вопросу обмена пленными — ред.) будет направлено на реализацию норм международного гуманитарного права", — цитирует Тонояна пресс-служба минобороны Армении.
Собеседники обсудили возможные пути реализации договоренностей об обмене данными о без вести пропавших в результате карабахского конфликта. Тоноян подчеркнул, что армянская сторона, начиная с 1992 года, эффективно сотрудничает с МККК и намерена продолжить эти работы.
В свою очередь, Эпрехт отметила, что МККК, будучи нейтральной, беспристрастной и независимой организацией, одним из приоритетов в регионе считает выяснение судьбы порядка 4,5 тысячи лиц, без вести пропавших в результате карабахского конфликта.
Конфликт между Азербайджаном и Арменией вокруг Нагорного Карабаха продолжается с 1988 года, когда населенная преимущественно армянами Нагорно-Карабахская автономная область (НКАО) заявила о выходе из Азербайджанской ССР. После военных действий 1992-1994 годов Азербайджан потерял контроль над Карабахом и семью прилегающими районами. Нагорный Карабах провозгласил независимость, но не является на сегодняшний день стороной переговоров между Арменией и Азербайджаном.
