Մարդու իրավունքները սովորաբար ընկալվում են որպես անբաժան հիմնարար իրավունքներ, որոնք ի ծնե ունի յուրաքանչյուր մարդ: Հետաքրքրական է այն փաստը, որ hարևան Ադրբեջանի իշխանություններն այլ կերպ են ընկալում մարդու իրավունքների հարցը: Ըստ մի շարք միջազգային կազմակերպությունների, Կենտրոնական Ասիայում և Եվրոպայում մարդու իրավունքներն ամենաշատը ոտնահարվում են հենց Ադրբեջանում:
ԵԽԽՎ նախագահ Ան Բրասյորը Twitter-իր էջում հայտարարել է, որ նա մտահոգված է այն փաստով, որ Ադրբեջանում մարդու իրավունքների իրավիճակը գնալով վատթարանում է և կոչ է արել Ադրբեջանի կառավարությանը հարգել ՄԻԵԴ-ի չափորոշիչները:
Եվրոպայի խորհրդի մարդու իրավունքների հանձնակատար Նիլս Մուիժնիկսը նշել է է, որ Ադրբեջանում լրագրողները, բլոգերներ և իրավապաշտպանները հաճախ են հալածվում և կեղծ է մեղադրանք է առաջ քաշվում նրանց նկատմամբ: «Ժամանակն է, որ Ադրբեջանը իր պարտավորությունները ստաձնի և վերականգնի մի մթնոլորտ, որտեղ այլախոհները կարող են ազատ կերպով արտահայտվել` առանց վախի և հալածանքների»,-նշել է վերջինս:
Ավելին տեղեկութուններ տարածվեցին, որ ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի՝ Եվրոպայի, Եվրասիայի և նոր մարտահրավերների հարցերով ենթահանձնաժողովում լսումների ժամանակ անդրադարձ է կատարվել Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունների կողմից մարդու իրավունքների ոտնահարման դեպքերին:
Քալիֆորնիան ներկայացնող կոնգրեսական Ռորաբաքերը հայտարարել է, որ ավելի քան 90 քաղբանտարկյալների առկայությունն Ադրբեջանում չի կարող անտեսվել:
Կոնգրեսական Ալբիա Սայրեսը (Նյու Ջերսի), նշել էր, որ Վաշինգթոնը ծայրահեղ անհանգստացած է, որ Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունը որոշել է փակել քաղաքական իստիտուտները և անկախ լրատվամիջոցները: Նա նաև մատնանշել է, որ Ադրբեջանի ժողովրդավարացմանը խոչընդոտում են կառավարությունում առկա կաշառակերությունը և մարդու իրավունքների նկատմամբ բռնությունները:
Փաստորեն, Ադրբեջանում կառավարությունը քննադատներին լռեցնելու համար տարբեր գործիքներն է կիրառվում և դա մտահոգում է, թե միջազգային հանրությանը, և թե իրավապաշտպան կաղզմակերպություններին: Սակայն Ադրբեջանի իշխանություններն արհամարհում են բոլոր քննադատությունները:
Ի վերջո` Ադրբեջանը երկար չի կարող գոյատևել որպես բռնատիրական երկիր, որտեղ գործում են միջնադարյան ֆեոդալական իշխանության կարգեր:
