ԱՄՆ Կալիֆորնիա, Նյու Ջերսի, Միչիգան, Մասաչուսեթս նահանգների օրենսդիրները ելույթներ են ունցել Կոնգրեսի բարձր հարթակում՟ ոգեկչելով 1980-ական թվականների վերջին և 90-ականների սկզբին Ադրբեջանում հայկական կոտորածների զոհերի հիշատակը: «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ' Կոնգրեսում հայկական հարցերով հանձնախմբի հմինադիր և նախագահ, ամերիկացի կոնգրեսական Ֆրենկ Փալոնեն իր ելույթում նշել է, որ հարյուրավոր մարդիկ են սպանվել, բռնաբարվել և վիրավորվել ադրբեջանահայերի դեմ իրականցված հալածանքների և սպանությունների արդյունքում:
«Ոստիկանական ուժերը աչք են փակել տիրող իրավիճակի վրա և թույլ տվել, որ հանցագործությունները շարունակվեն երեք օր: Դրանից հետո Ադրբեջանը փորձել է քողարկել այդ հանցագործությունները և վերաշարադրել պատմությունը»,- հայտարարել է Փալոնեն: «Կոնգրեսում հայկական հարցերով հանձնախմբի իմ գործընկերների հետ մենք շարունակում ենք մեր ջանքերը՟ փորձելով լույս սփռել այդ իրադարձությունների վրա, որպեսզի այդ մարդկային կորուստները չմոռացվեն», - խոստացել է նա:
Կոնգրեսական Ջիմ Կոստան էլ անդրադարձել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ժողովրդի ինքնորոշման հարցին' ընդգծելով նրա ազատության և ինքնիշխանության իրավունքը: «Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունն այսօր էլ շարունակում է իր ագրեսիվ գորոծողությունները», -ընդգծել է Կոստան' ԱՄՆ օրենսդիրներին հիշեցնելով նոյեմբերին հայկական ուղղաթիռի վրա կատարված հարձակումը, որի հետևանքով երեք հայ զինծառայողներ են զոհվել: «Այս ագրեսիան ամբողջովին անընդունելի է և վնասում է խաղաղ կարգավորման ջանքերին»,- նշել է նա:
«Ես հպարտ եմ այսօր կանգնել այստեղ' ԱՄՆ հայ համայնքի կողքին, հիշատակելու և սգալու այս անասելի ողգերգությունը»,- դիմելով իր հայ ընտրողներին' ասել է ԱՄՆ օրենսդիր Քերոլայն Քլարքը: Նա անդրադարձել է Սումգայիթի, Բաքվի և Կիրովաբադի ջարդերի հետևանքով տեղահանված հայ ընտանքիներին, ովքեր ապաստան են գտել ԱՄՆ-ում և այսօր մեծ ներդրում ունեն այդ երկրի, և հատկապես «Մասաչուսեթսի զարգացման գործում»:
