Погрануправление ФСБ в Армении хочет улучшить систему охраны границы

Дальнейшую деятельность в этом направлении рассматривается в рамках гособоронзаказа и возможностей Армении, чтобы оснастить современными инженерно-техническими средствами охраны пока отдельные участки границы, заявил начальник управления генерал-майор Вячеслав Бирюков. Пограничное управление ФСБ России в Армении планирует провести техническую модернизацию системы охраны границы, сообщил начальник управления генерал-майор Вячеслав Бирюков. "Работа по модернизации техники проводится, этот год для нас является определяющим. Мы рассматриваем дальнейшую деятельность в этом направлении в рамках гособоронзаказа и возможностей Армении, чтобы оснастить современными инженерно-техническими средствами охраны пока отдельные участки границы", — сказал Бирюков на пресс-конференции в пятницу.
Он отметил, что в этом вопросе Погрануправление надеется на поддержку правительства Армении и руководства Пограничной службы ФСБ России. Система охраны государственной границы Армении с Турцией (330 км) и Ираном (45 км) полностью сохранилась со времен СССР. Руководство Армении считает пребывание российских пограничников, наряду с российской военной базой, важной составляющей национальной безопасности республики. Основой для нынешнего пребывания здесь российских пограничников является межгосударственный договор о статусе пограничных войск России на территории республики, заключенный в Ереване 30 сентября 1992 года. Пограничное управление ФСБ России в Армении включает четыре пограничных отряда — в Гюмри, Армавире, Арташате и Мегри, а также отдельный контрольно-пропускной пункт в Ереванском международном аэропорту "Звартноц". Содержание российских пограничников в Армении (их численность — около 4,5 тысячи человек) обеспечивается правительствами двух государств примерно поровну.
