Ժամանակը ցույց է տալիս, որ ՀՀ-ԵՄ հարաբերությունների մակարդակը ոչ միայն պահպանվում է, այլ նաև խորացման միտում է դրսևորում: ՀՀ-ԵՄ գործակցության նոր ձևաչափի ստեղծման և համագործակցության ընդլայնման մասին պարբերաբար նշում են ԵՄ բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաները` ակնարկելով նաև ասոցացման համաձայնագրի քաղաքական մասի կնքման հնարավորության մասին, իսկ ավելի ճիշտ՝ բանակցված համաձայնագրի քաղաքական մասի հիման վրա նոր փաստաթղթի մշակման անհրաժեշտության մասին:
Հատկապես վերջին շրջանում ակտիվացել են նաև Հայաստանի պաշտոնական շփումները ԵՄ ներկայացուցիչների հետ: Առանձնահատուկ ուշադրության է արժանի Եվրոպական հարևանության քաղաքականության և ընդլայնման բանակցությունների հարցերով հանձնակատար Յոհաննես Հանի այցը Հայաստան: Ընդունելության արժանանալով նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի կողմից` նա Սերժ Սարգսյանի հետ քննարկել է Հայաստան-Եվրոպական միություն հարաբերությունների զարգացման հեռանկարները:
Իր խոսքում Յոհաննես Հանը նշել է, որ այժմ վերանայվում է Եվրոպական հարևանության քաղաքականության հայեցակարգը, որի սկզբունքների շուրջ տեսակետների ակտիվ փոխանակում է իրականացվում: Այդպիսի կարևոր սկզբունքներից մեկը, ըստ հանձնակատար Հանի, այն է, որ հարևանության քաղաքականության յուրաքանչյուր գործընկերոջ հետ ԵՄ-ն պետք է ունենա անհատական մոտեցում: Յոհաննես Հանի խոսքերից կարելի է կռահել, որ ԵՄ-ն որոշել է անհատական և առանձնահատուկ մոտեցում ցուցաբերել Հայաստանի նկատմամբ, այսինքն` ըմբռնումով մոտենալ ՀՀ անդամակցությանը ԵՏՄ-ին` ՀՀ-ԵՄ համագործակցությունը խորացնելու ճանապարհին:
Յոհաննես Հանը նշել է նաև, թե ԵՄ Արևելյան գործընկերության շրջանակներում նախորդ փուլի բանակցությունները վատնված ջանքեր չէին, և անկախ հետագա զարգացումներից, դրանք օգտակար էին ակնկալիքներն ու սահմանված չափանիշները, նաև եվրոպական շուկայում մրցունակ լինելու հնարավորությունները պատկերացնելու առումով: Եթե վերլուծենք Յոհաննես Հանի այս հայտարարությունը, ապա կտեսնենք, որ նա կարևորում է ՀՀ-ի հետ Եվրոպական Միության անցած ճանապարհը և ակնարկում, որ ԵՄ-ի` ՀՀ-ի հետ համագործակցության նոր մոտեցումը հիմնվելու է նոր սկզբունքի վրա, որտեղ հաշվի է առնվելու ՀՀ առաջընթացը եվրոպական չափանիշների առումով:
Փաստորեն, ի հեճուկս ՀՀ-ԵՄ հարաբերությունների վատատեսական կանխատեսումների, Հայաստանի հետ գործակցությունը ընդլայնելու Եվրամիության մեծ ցանկությունն արդեն իսկ տեսանելի է:
