Washington not commenting on Erdogan’s Karabakh remarks
Международные новостиU.S. official declined to comment on Turkish president’s remarks supporting Azerbaijan.
Spokesman for State Department Mark Toner was asked about Washington’s position regarding Turkey’s stance on Karabakh conflict. The reporter recalled that Moscow and Washington are urging the parties to calm down, unlike Turkey’s Erdogan, Washington’s ally, who said “Azerbaijan should win”.
“We strongly support the Minsk Group process to mediate a fair and just resolution,” Toner said during the briefing on Tuesday. He said this “does not include picking sides or picking one over another”.
“What we need both leaders to come back to negotiation table, I am not going to comment on president Erdogan’s comments,” he added.
