Председатель Демократической партии Азербайджана (АДП) Сардар Джалалоглу в интервью онлайн-телеканалу «kanal 13.tv», говоря о проблемах сексуальных меньшинств в Азербайджане заявил, что представители сексуальных меньшинств есть среди министров и других высокопоставленных чиновников, и каждый третий мужчина в Азербайджане - представитель нетрадиционной сексуальной ориентации.

По словам азербайджанского политика, в современном мире гомосексуализм широко распространен, не является исключением и Азербайджан и регулируется это естественным путем. К примеру, во время войн гомосексуализм практически отсутствует, поскольку из-за высокой смертности возникает проблема естественного прироста населения. В мирный период развития гомосексуализм активизируется, поскольку есть проблема естественной регуляции демографии.

По словам Джалалоглу, этому способствует также питание, которое становится все более искусственным и влияет на сексуальные потребности людей, меняя их. Еще одной причиной является смешение культур - после обретения независимости в Азербайджан хлынули иностранцы, которые интересуются сексуальными меньшинствами.

«В такой неразвитой в социальном плане стране, как Азербайджан, где люди нищие, иностранцы с легкостью заманивают в свой круг молодых парней, нуждающихся в средствах. В Азербайджане главная причина проституции, как среди мужчин, так и среди женщин - социальный фактор», - заявил Джалалоглу. 

Также азербайджанский политик обратился к теме гомосексуализма среди высокопоставленных чиновников, отметив, что на Западе общественное мнение толерантно и права геев защищены.

«У нас говорят, что заграницей есть геи в правительстве. А что, у нас их нет? И среди азербайджанских министров есть геи. Просто там они этого не скрывают, а у нас скрывают»,- заявил председатель партии и отметил, что сам не спрашивает о сексуальных пристрастиях вступающих в его партию людей.

Далее он перечислил имена известных людей, которые по его утверждению были геями: Чехов, Чайковский, Черчилль, Чингиз хан, Александр Македонский, Платон, Сталин и другие.
