Օրերս Թերեզա Մեյը հայտարարեց, որ բրեկզիտը հունիսի 30-ից ուշ չի լինի: Միաժամանակ նա բացառեց երկրորդ հանրաքվեն ու մեղադրեց պատգամավորներին, որ չեն ուզում ընդունել բրեկզիտին այդքան անհրաժեշտ համաձայնագիրը:

Դրան զուգահեռ Թորիների խմբակցության փոխնախագահ Մարկ Ֆրանսուան նշեց, որ Պահպանողական կուսակցության բավականին մեծ թվով պատգամավորներ, միևնույն է, դեմ են քվեարկելու ԵՄ-ի հետ համաձայնագրին, եթե քվեարկություն ընդհանրապես լինի: Շոտլանդիայի կառավարության ղեկավար և Շոտլանդական ազգային կուսակցության նախագահ Նիկոլա Ստերջենը, ինչպես ԵՄ-ից հեռանալուն դեմ շատերը, հայտարարեց, որ ներկա իրավիճակին երկրին հասցրել է Մեյի դիրքորոշումը բրեկզիտի ձևի նկատմամբ:

Թերեզա Մեյը Եվրախորհրդի նախագահ Դոնալդ Տուսկին նամակ է գրել` խնդրելով բրեկզիտը մարտի 29-ից տեղափոխել հունիսի 30: Բրյուսելը պատասխանել է, որ համաձայն է բրեկզիտը հետաձգել կարճ ժամանակով, եթե Բրիտանիայի խորհրդարանը հաջորդ շաբաթ հավանություն կտա համաձայնագրին:

Փաստացի ԵՄ երկրներն արդեն տեղյակ են, որ Մեյն այլևս ի վիճակի չէ վերահսկել իր կուսակցության գործողությունները: Նրանք հասկանում են, որ անիմաստ է զիջումներ անել, որովհետև Մեյն ընդամենը կերակրում է անկուշտ հրեշին` եվրասկեպտիկություն անունով, իսկ հետո վերադառնում է Բրյուսել ու էլի զիջում աղաչում: Թերեզա Մեյը վատնել է իր ամբողջ քաղաքական կապիտալն ու այլևս դաշնակիցներ չունի ոչ տանը, ոչ դրսում: Նա դադարել է հասկանալ`  ինչ է դիվանագիտություն ու ինչ է ռազմավարությունը: Վատ վարչապետից նա արդեն վերածվում է վարչապետի, ով խախտում է կանոնները:

Ընդհանրապես Մեծ Բրիտանիայում ընդունված չէ, որ ազգի ղեկավարները հեռուստաեթերից դիմեն ժողովրդին: Բրիտանիայի վարչապետներն ուղիղ եթեր են մտնում միայն երկրին սպառնացող լուրջ վտանգի դեպքում: Օրինակ Նևիլ Չեմբեռլենը 1939-ի սեպտեմբերի 3-ին ռադիոեթերում հայտարարեց, որ պատերազմ է սկսվել: Թերեզա Մեյը վճռել է ժողովրդին դիմել ուղիղ եթերով բրեկզիտի հարցով: Նա ստիպված էր մոռանալ իր խոստումները, միաժամանկ նշենք, որ նա 198 անգամ հայտարարել է, որ բրեկզիտը կկայանա մայիսի 29-ին, իսկ հիմա արդեն հետաձգել է ուզում:

Ամփոփելով նշենք, որ Լոնդոնն ու Բրյուսելը նաև հաշվել են` ով ինչքան է կորցնում բրեկզիտից, ու ծանր են տանում աստղաբաշխական միլիարդների կորուստը:
