Հայաստանի Հանրապետության ազգային անվտանգության ծառայության և ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի կողմից ձեռնարկված լայնածավալ համալիր օպերատիվ -հետախուզական միջոցառումների և քննչական գործողությունների արդյունքում բացահայտվել է տարիներ առաջ ՀՀ ազգային պատկերասրահից գեղանկարների հափշտակության դեպքը:
 
Մասնավորապես, Ազգային անվտանգության ծառայությունում օպերատիվ տվյալներ էին ստացվել, որ ՀՀ երկու քաղաքացիներ ցանկանում են վաճառել «Հայաստանի ազգային պատկերասրահ» ՊՈԱԿ-ից գողացված Մատիաս Բրասաուի «Որսորդը» և Իսահակ Լևիտանի «Էտյուդ.Գարնանային բնանկար» առանձնակի արժեք ներկայացնող կտավները:
 
Ստուգմամբ պարզվել էր, որ դեռևս 2012թ. հունիսին ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեում հարուցվել էր քրեական գործ «Հայաստանի ազգային պատկերասրահ» ՊՈԱԿ-ի ցուցասրահից և տնօրենի աշխատասենյակից 1951-1992թթ. ընկած ժամանակահատվածում տասը թանգարանային առարկաների` այդ թվում վերը նշված կտավների գողության դեպքի առթիվ: Սակայն հանցագործությունը չէր բացահայտվել, հափշտակված թանգարանային առարկաները չէին հայտնաբերվել, իսկ քրեական գործի վարույթն էլ կասեցվել էր՝ որպես մեղադրյալ ներգրավման ենթակա անձը հայտնի չլինելու հիմքով:
 
Հանցագործության դեպքը բացահայտելու, Հայաստանի ազգային պատկերասրահից հափշտակված առարկաները հայտնաբերելու նպատակով ՀՀ ազգային անվտանգության ծառայության, ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի աշխատակիցների կողմից, ինչպես նաև ՀՀ ոստիկանության ԿՀԴՊ ԳՎ ծառայողների աջակցությամբ, իրականացվել են համալիր օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումներ և քննչական գործողություններ, որոնց արդյունքում, վերը նշված կտավների վաճառքի գործարքն ավարտվելուց անմիջապես հետո, հայտնաբերվել և բերման են ենթարկվել մշակութային առանձնակի արժեք ներկայացնող առարկաների վաճառքն իրականացրած և ենթադրյալ հանցագործությանն առնչություն ունեցած անձինք: Վերջիններիս մոտ հայտնաբերվել և առգրավվել են նշված գեղանկարները:
 
Միջոցներ են ձեռնարկվում դեպքի բոլոր հանգամանքների օբյեկտիվ, բազմակողմանի և լրիվ հետազոտումն ապահովելու, դեպքին հնարավոր առնչություն ունեցող անձանց ամբողջական շրջանակը պարզելու և նրանց հայտնաբերելու ուղղությամբ:
