Բաթումում ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության նախաձեռնությամբ դեկտեմբերի 5-ին ստեղծվել է Հայ կրթական և մշակութային կենտրոն, որը կրում է հայ մեծ բարերար Ալեքսանդր Մանթաշյանի անունը: Կենտրոնի ստեղծումն իրականություն է դարձել Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահի հանձնարարությամբ և ՀՀ կառավարության նախաձեռնությամբ՝ ի դեմս ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության: Վերանորոգման աշխատանքները կատարվել են Ջինիշյան հիմնադրամի հովանավորությամբ, ներքին հարդարումը և գույքը ձեռք է բերվել Վիրահայոց թեմի առաջնորդարանի և Սուրբ Փրկիչ եկեղեցու ծխական համայնքի միջոցներով:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության մամուլի և հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, կենտրոնի բացման առիթով աջարահայ համայնքին իր շնորհավորական խոսքն էր հղել ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարար Հրանուշ Հակոբյանը, որում, մասնավորապես, ասված է.

«Պատմական հրաշալի օր է այսօր: Ուրախ և հպարտ եմ, որ այս կենտրոնը, որը նախաձեռնել է ՀՀ կառավարությունը՝ ի դեմս Սփյուռքի նախարարության, կրում է մեծն Ալեքսանդր Մանթաշյանի անունը, մի մարդու, ով դարձել է հայ-վրացական բարեկամության հիանալի կամուրջ: Այս հասարակությունում Մանթաշյանն իր հետքը թողել է իր բարեգործությամբ, իր շռայլ մարդկային կերպարով և իր մեծ հայ լինելու էությամբ: Ուրախ եմ նաև, որ մեր համագործակցությունը սրբազան հոր՝ վիրահայոց առաջնորդ Գերաշնորհ Վազգեն եպիսկոպոս Միրզախանյանի հետ տալիս է փայլուն արդյունք: Մենք ոչ միայն Թբիլիսիում, Ջավախքում, այլև ամենուր փորձում ենք հայ մշակույթի, հայ արվեստի, հայ լեզվի ջահը վառ պահել. դրա ապացույցը այսօրվա այս հրաշալի կենտրոնի բացումն է, որը իրականություն դարձավ նաև սրբազանի մեծ աջակցությամբ և հովանավորությամբ: 

Այստեղ իրենց ներդրումն ունի նաև Ջինիշյան հիմնադրամը, որին հղում եմ իմ ջերմ շնորհակալանքները: Իհարկե, այս ամենը չէր լինի, եթե Աջարիայի իշխանություններն իրենց ջերմ ու բարյացակամ վերաբերմունքը չունենային մեր հայ համայնքի՝ իրենց հայ քաղաքացիների հանդեպ: Շնորհակալ եմ Ձեզ, որ Դուք ստեղծել եք բոլոր պայմանները, որպեսզի  հայությունը  կարողանա պահի-պահպանի իր արմատները: Վստահ եմ, որ այս կենտրոնը կդառնա մի հետաքրքիր ու գեղեցիկ կամուրջ՝  հայ-վրացական բարեկամության   առավել խորացման և զարգացման համար»:

Մշակութային կենտրոնի բացմանը ներկա են եղել Վրաստանում ՀՀ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Յուրի Վարդանյանը, Աջարիայի, Գուրիայի և Իմերեթիի ՀՀ գլխավոր հյուպատոս Արամ Գրիգորյանը, Վիրահայոց թեմի առաջնորդ Գերաշնորհ Տեր Վազգեն եպիսկոպոս Միրզախանյանը,  Ջինիշյան հիմնադրամի տնօրեն Արմեն Հակոբյանը, պաշտոնատար այլ անձինք, Բաթումիի համայնքային գործիչներ, մտավորականներ, հայ հասարակայնության ներկայացուցիչներ:
