Վերջին շրջանում Վրաստանի իշխանություններն իրենց պահվածքով ու հայտարարություններով կարծես ինչ-որ բան են փորձում ապացուցել Հայաստանի մեկ այլ հարեւան, բայց ոչ երբեք բարեկամ պետությանը՝ Ադրբեջանին: Վրաստանի պաշտպանության նախարար Թինա Խիդաշելին, բացի այն հայտարարությունից, որ տեղի կունենա Թուրքիա-Վրաստան-Ադրբեջան զորավարժություններ, Գաբալայում Թուրքիայի ու Ադրբեջանի պաշտպանության նախարարների հետ համատեղ ասուլիսի ժամանակ հարկ համարեց եւս մեկ անգամ շեշտել, որ Վրաստանը Հայաստանի հետ ոչ թե ռազմավարական, այլ բարեկամական հարաբերությունների մեջ է: Վրաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարի վերջին հայտարարության եւ դրանից բխող հավանական զարգացումների ու վտանգների շուրջ Orer.am-ը զրուցեց ԱԺ անկախ պատգամավոր, «Լուսավոր Հայաստան»- ի առաջնորդ Էդմոն Մարուքյանի հետ:

«Վրաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարը նշել է, որ ռազմավարական- գործընկերային հարաբերություններ ունի Թուրքիայի, բայց ոչ Հայաստանի հետ, քանի որ Թուրքիան ՆԱՏՕ-ի անդամ պետություն է, իսկ Վրաստանն էլ ցանկություն է հայտնել ՆԱՏՕ-ի անդամ դառնալու, այս առումով բանակցություններ են ընթանում, ծրագիր է իրականացվում: Վրաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարը հայտարարել է նաեւ, որ Հայաստանն իր ընտրությունն այդ հարցում կատարել է ու միացել է ԵՏՄ-ին, եւ որ իրենք չեն պատրաստվում այդ ուղղությամբ զարգացնել իրենց հարաբերությունները, հետեւաբար, դա է նաեւ պատճառը, որ Հայաստանի հետ հարաբերությունները չեն կարող համարվել ռազմավարական»,- ասաց պարոն Մարուքյանը՝ հավելելով, որ այդ հայտարարության մեջ, մեծ հաշվով, վտանգ չի տեսնում:

«Երբ ժամանակին Վրաստանն Ասոցացման համաձայնագիր էր ստորագրում, ես ասում էի, որ որտեղ մեր հարեւան երկիրն է ինտեգրվում, ում հետ ունենք ցամաքային սահման ու տնտեսական հարաբերություններ, պետք է նույն ճանապարհով էլ մենք գնանք, այլապես առաջանալու են խոչընդոտներ: Մենք չգնացինք այդ ճանապարհով ու ԵՏՄ մտանք, որի հետ ցամաքային սահման չունենք, այս կոնտեքստում կարող եմ նշել, որ նախկինում իմ կողմից ասված խոչընդոտները կարող են ի հայտ գալ: Չնայած այդ հանգամանքին՝ մենք Վրաստանի հետ ունենք առեւտրի երկկողմ համաձայնագիր, որն ուժի մեջ է: Հույս ունեմ, որ մեր հարաբերությունները Վրաստանի հետ ԵՏՄ-ի շրջանակում չեն վնասվի»,-հույս հայտնեց Է. Մարուքյանը:

Խոսելով ռազմավարական հարաբերությունների մասին՝ պատգամավորը նշեց, որ դրանք սովորական, երկկողմ բարեկամական հարաբերություններ չեն: «Դրանք շատ բարձր ու բավական լուրջ հարաբերություններ են, իսկ Հայաստանը Վրաստանի հետ նման հարաբերություն չունի: Թեպետ հայ ու վրացի ժողովուրդները բավական սերտ հարաբերություններ ունեն, այնուամենայնիվ, պետական մակարդակում մեր հարաբերությունները Վրաստանի հետ ստրատեգիական չեն: Ինչ վերաբերում է Թուրքիայի հետ անցկացվող զորավարժություններին, ապա դա կարելի է դիտարկել ՆԱՏՕ-ի համագործակցության շրջանակում, այսինքն՝ սեփական ազգային շահը հետապնդելով Վրաստանը համագործակցում է Թուրքիայի հետ, սակայն, թե ինչ կապ ունի այդ ամենի հետ Ադրբեջանը, չեմ կարող ասել»,- ասաց պատգամավորը:
