Ինչպես գիտենք Կոստանդնուպոլիսը եղել է Եվրոպայի ամենահարուստ ու մեծ քաղաքներից մեկը, որն Օսմանյան կայսրության անկումից հետո 1930 թվականին վերանվանվել է Ստամբուլ: Բյուզանդիայի վերջին կայսր Կոնստանտին 11-րդը զոհվեց` հերոսաբար կռվելով քաղաքի պաշտպանների շարքերում:

Նրա դիակը գտան զինվորների մարմինների հսկայական կույտի մեջ: Կայսերը ճանաչեցին երկարաճիտ կոշիկների փոքրիկ ոսկյա երկգլխանի արծիվներից:

Թուրքերի ձեռքն անցնելով` Կոստանդնուպոլիսն անվանվեց Ստամբուլ և դարձավ թուրքական սուլթանների բնակավայրը:
