Գիտնականները տարիներ շարունակ իրականացրած հետազոտությունների արդյունքում հանգել են այն եզրակացության, որ ընկույզը պաշտպանում է սրտային հիվանդություններից: Հետազոտության ընթացքում նրանք ուսումնասիրել են, թե ինչպես է ընկույզի ամենօրյա օգտագործումն անդրադառնում մի խումբ մարդկանց վրա, ովքեր ունեին դիաբետի կամ սրտային հիվանդությունների զարգացման բարձր հավանականություն:

Ուսումնասիրության արդյունքում պարզվել է, որ հունական ընկույզը պարունակում է մի շարք օգտակար միացություններ, այդ թվում` օմեգա-3 ճարպաթթու: Նրանք պնդում են նաև, որ ընկույզը բավականին հագեցնող է: Հետազոտողները 8 շաբաթ շարունակ փորձի մասնակիցներին սնել են սովորական ռեժիմով: Եղել է նաեւ ստուգիչ շրջան` ամեն ինչ, բացի ընկույզներից: Ընկուզային դիետայով 8 շաբաթից հետո, հետազոտվողների անոթային համակարգը, ստուգիչ շրջանի համեմատ, բարելավվել է: Բացի այդ մի փոքր նվազել է զարկերակային ճնշումը:
